The world's most expensive conversations....

Hey Reader,

Have you ever sat in a meeting where everyone clearly knew what the problem was, but somehow the entire conversation managed to happen around it?

Like nobody wants to talk about it, so the problem just dragged on....

Maybe someone had been missing deadlines for weeks, and other people were quietly picking up the slack.

Maybe there was tension between two team members and it started affecting everyone else.

Or maybe a behavior had gone unaddressed for so long that people simply accepted it as “just how things are.”

I’ve been in those situations, and I’ve also been the person who waited longer than I should have because I genuinely thought I was giving someone grace.

In my latest article, “The Cost of the Conversation You’re Avoiding,” I talk about what can happen when compassion quietly turns into avoidance, and about addressing problems before the rest of the team starts paying for them.

What conversations does your team need to get better at having?

One of the reasons I write about topics like this is because leadership challenges rarely stay theoretical for very long. They show up in meetings, missed deadlines, accountability issues, and the everyday conversations managers are expected to navigate well.

That’s also why I offer Lunch & Learns and customized team trainings for organizations that want to give their people practical tools for handling these situations more effectively.

A Lunch & Learn can be a great way to bring your team together around a focused leadership topic and start a conversation that might not otherwise happen during the normal workday.

For organizations that want to go deeper, my customized team trainings allow us to spend more time on the specific communication, leadership, accountability, and alignment challenges your people are actually experiencing.

If your team could benefit from having better conversations, strengthening accountability, or improving the way people work together, book a complimentary consultation with me by clicking the button below.

Hope to work with you soon.

Five Small Choices That Quietly Change Your Life

Connect with Donna on LinkedIn | Instagram | Facebook | YouTube Hi Reader, I once had a conversation with a woman who had spent years being the person everyone could count on at work. She was the one who stayed late when something needed to be finished, answered messages long after the workday ended, and took on extra responsibilities than wait for someone else to do it. From the outside, she looked successful and incredibly dependable....But she was exhausted and frustrated because the work...

team productivity and thinking too much

Connect with Donna on LinkedIn | Instagram | Facebook | YouTube Hi Reader, The other day, I created a post about three signs your team may be overthinking everything. I started thinking about it because overthinking at work rarely announces itself as overthinking. It can look like a team being thorough. It can sound like people asking smart questions. It can even feel responsible to keep discussing an issue before moving forward. But there comes a point when careful thinking stops improving...

micromanaging team members

Connect with Donna on LinkedIn | Instagram | Facebook | YouTube Hi Reader, I was thinking recently about a manager who spent nearly twenty minutes reviewing an email one of his employees had written. The employee had done a perfectly good job, but before the email could go out, he changed a few sentences, questioned some of the wording, and eventually found himself discussing whether a semicolon should have been a period. If you had asked him whether he was a micromanager, I’m pretty sure he...
